We use the smallest number of cookies we can — just enough to keep you signed in.
Draft — not yet in force
This policy is a working draft. It still needs the council's contact details and formal approval before the courts open to the public, and it has not been reviewed by a solicitor. Don't rely on it as it stands.
Why there's no cookie banner
You won't see a pop-up asking you to accept cookies, and that's deliberate rather than an oversight. UK law requires consent for cookies that aren't strictly necessary — analytics, advertising, tracking. This site uses none of those, so there's nothing to ask you about.
We don't track you across other websites, we don't profile you, we don't use advertising cookies, and we don't run analytics.
What we do set
All of these are strictly necessary — the site can't work without them:
- A session cookie. Set when you sign in, so the site remembers it's you as you move between pages. Without it you'd be signed out on every click. It expires when your session ends or you sign out.
- A security token. Protects the forms on the site (booking, cancelling, checking in) from being submitted by another website on your behalf.
These are set by the site itself, not by a third party, and they contain no marketing information.
Turning them off
Your browser can block or delete cookies — usually under Settings, then Privacy. If you block these ones you can still read the public pages, but you won't be able to sign in or book a court, because the site will have no way to remember you.
