About the courts
A newly rejuvenated facility at Ethel Ward Playing Fields, run by Haxby Town Council in partnership with the village's clubs.
The Haxby Sports Courts provide two floodlit, multi-line courts for netball, football and runners.
They are the home of Haxby Netball, Haxby Junior & Senior Football and Haxby Runners, who share the surface across netball, football and running. Court booking is for members of those four clubs.
More about the facility and its story will appear here once the council and clubs have supplied the final copy.
The surface
The courts are laid with Playrite Matchplay 2 ↗, a sand-dressed synthetic turf built for multi-use games areas. It plays consistently in wet weather, takes the netball and football line markings together, and is designed to stand up to year-round community use.
The court refurbishment project has received £33,900 from David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire and York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority.
