Code of conduct

The courts are a shared community facility, used by four partner clubs and their members. With everyone sharing the space, the next group is often waiting to use the courts straight after you.

By booking or using the courts, you agree to follow this Code of Conduct and any additional code of conduct that applies to your club.

What we expect

Respect your booking

• Turn up for the time you have booked and finish promptly at the end of your session.
• Someone may be waiting to use the courts after you.
• If you can no longer attend, please cancel your booking as soon as possible. It costs nothing and frees the slot for someone else.

Use the facility for the activity you booked it for

• Please only play the sport for which the court has been booked.
• Netball and football cannot safely take place at the same time on the same court. Changing sports during a booking may put other court users at risk.
• Please follow your club's own Code of Conduct where applicable.

Look after the courts

• Leave the courts as you would want to find them.
• Brush the courts after use where required.
• Return all equipment to its proper storage area.
• Take all rubbish home with you.
• Make sure the gate is closed and locked when you leave.

Be a good neighbour

• Local homes are close to the courts, so please be considerate of nearby residents.
• Keep noise to a reasonable level, particularly during evening sessions.
• Park considerately and do not obstruct residents, driveways or access routes.

Treat everyone with respect

• Abuse, aggression, harassment, bullying or discrimination will not be tolerated.
• This applies to players, coaches, officials, volunteers, club members, residents and visitors.
• Please also follow your club's Code of Conduct as well as these shared court rules.

Report problems

• If you notice damage, a broken net, damaged court surface, faulty floodlights or any other problem, please report it rather than leaving it for the next group.
• Help us keep the courts safe and usable for everyone.

Court rules

These are Haxby Town Council rules and apply to everyone using the courts:

• Suitable netball footwear must be worn when playing netball.
• For other sports, appropriate footwear that will not damage the court surface must be used.
• Metal studs or blades must not be worn on the courts.
• All footwear must be clean and free from mud, stones, grit and other debris before entering the courts.
• The courts are a no-smoking and no-vaping area.
• Chewing gum is not permitted on the courts.

If things go wrong

We understand that sometimes things don't go to plan. If something goes wrong, please tell us so we can work together to resolve it.

However, persistent no-shows, damage to the facility, or behaviour that puts others at risk may result in the loss of booking privileges. We'd much rather talk to you first.
